AgoraLens Ethics Statement

Responsible Use & Ethical Principles

This platform is designed for analysis of public political communication, not for judgment, enforcement, or attribution of intent.

We analyze what was publicly communicated, not motives or private beliefs.

We do not speculate on why a post was deleted.

We do not label individuals as acting in bad faith.

All AI-generated outputs are interpretive and probabilistic, not factual determinations.

Public Figures & Public Interest

The platform focuses on public statements made by public figures in their professional or political capacity.

Analysis is conducted in the interest of research, journalism, and democratic accountability.

AI Usage Ethics

AI outputs are summaries, categorizations, and pattern descriptions.

AI does not determine truth, legality, or intent.

Users must not treat AI output as definitive evidence.

Public data only

AgoraLens analyzes only publicly available, on-record content from public accounts.

We do not access:

  • private messages,
  • protected or closed accounts,
  • deleted or non-public content,
  • personal data beyond what is publicly visible.

Our analysis is limited to content that individuals have chosen to publish in public forums.

No intent attribution

AgoraLens does not infer or assign:

  • personal beliefs,
  • motivations,
  • intentions,
  • moral character,
  • or political alignment.

All metrics describe observable features of public language and audience response, not the internal states of individuals.

Indicators, not judgments

All outputs produced by AgoraLens are analytical indicators.

They are:

  • probabilistic,
  • contextual,
  • and subject to uncertainty.

Indicators are designed to support human interpretation, not replace it. Trends over time are emphasized over individual data points.

Backlash indicators describe observable concentrations of negative or oppositional audience responses relative to baseline patterns.

They do not imply that reactions are justified, coordinated, authentic, or representative of broader public opinion.

Low-data safeguards

In contexts where public reply volumes are limited, AgoraLens may classify audience reaction indicators as preliminary or unavailable.

These cases are explicitly marked to prevent over-interpretation of sparse data.

Transparency by design

We aim to make our analytical approach understandable and reviewable.

To support this:

  • metric definitions are documented,
  • weighting and thresholding principles are described at a high level,
  • significant methodological changes are disclosed.

Users are encouraged to interpret results alongside original public content and external context.

Human responsibility

AgoraLens is a decision-support tool, not an autonomous decision-maker.

Interpretation, reporting, and use of results remain the responsibility of:

  • journalists,
  • researchers,
  • analysts,
  • and organizations using the platform.

We encourage users to apply professional judgment and domain expertise when drawing conclusions.

Bias and limitations

Language analysis systems can reflect cultural, contextual, and data-driven biases.

To mitigate this:

  • metrics are reviewed and refined over time,
  • emphasis is placed on trends rather than single outputs,
  • feedback from academic and professional communities is incorporated where possible.

No automated system can fully capture irony, satire, or evolving political language.

Exceptional Sensitive Content Review

If a data subject believes that content displayed on this platform contains exceptionally sensitive information that should not be retained for analytical purposes, they may submit a request for review.

Such requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, balancing public interest, freedom of expression, and potential harm.

Core Protection Principles:

  • No inference of intent is made.
  • Review does not imply wrongdoing.
  • Review does not guarantee removal.

Eligible for Review

  • Accidental disclosure of legally protected security information
  • Personal data of private individuals not acting in a public role
  • Content restricted by court order or statutory confidentiality
  • Content published due to verified account compromise

Not Eligible

  • Political embarrassment
  • Strategic reconsideration
  • Change of opinion
  • Public backlash or criticism
  • Campaign messaging errors

Prohibited Uses

Users may not use the platform to:

  • harass or target individuals,
  • misrepresent deleted content as current statements,
  • infer intent behind deletions,
  • republish content out of context,
  • create rankings or accusations based on deletions alone.

We reserve the right to restrict use cases that conflict with these principles.

Accountability

We take ethical considerations seriously and view them as an ongoing responsibility. Questions or concerns regarding methodology or ethical use can be directed to contact@agoralens.com.

Closing principle

AgoraLens exists to illuminate public discourse, not to police it.

We believe that understanding patterns in public communication — when done transparently and responsibly — supports informed debate and democratic accountability.
